Last post as an unmarried woman, that is. I felt it might be nice to do a post about the night before in anticipation of the day-of.
It's all about burning the midnight oil here at the C. household. Mom is in the kitchen making streudelkuchen from my grandmother's recipe, Dad's watching late night television on BBC about the early constructs of India, and I'm sitting in my temporary room writing it all down.
The only things I am truly worried about tomorrow are not messing up the vows and making sure H. and I don't mess up the rest of the ceremony. He was a little uneasy about the super quick run-through that we were given. I feel that - in the presence of family and friends and love all around - everyone will laugh with us if we mess something up. Nothing about the reception makes me anxious, even though there's a few more things to do tomorrow morning.
The photographer is willing to stay with H. and I after the reception tomorrow, seeing as how our whole shindig will probably last about 6.5 hours. Sort of makes you wonder where all the time goes, doesn't it? So after he and I have had a bite to eat for dinner, I'm taking suggestions for where we go to take newlywed photos in the setting sunlight. I might want to go back to that fire station to get an After shot for the Before we captured during our engagement photoshoot.
In twelve hours, four minutes, and twenty seconds, I will be on my way to a beautiful marriage to the man I want live out the rest of my days with. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is something wonderful to dream about. Goodnight, and God bless.

Update: List.
In the spirit of keeping everyone on the same page, I'm reposting the list of things to do before the wedding with a couple of updates.
Updated Wedding To-Do List:
- Figure out centerpieces (hotel is providing mirrors, hurricane vases, and extra votives if needed) ---> I need to price out how much real flowers would cost, doing that today.
-Designate MC Harry is the designated MC and DJ.
-Buy & fill frames with photos of H. and I growing up, because slideshows are hella expensive Brittany and Bill have graciously offered to make us a slideshow and provide a projection system to show it on!
- Figure out how we’re decorating the first and second alcoves in the McKinney room
-Figure out what exactly goes in the first and second alcoves in the room First alcove will be the caterer's beverages and our guest book thing, second alcove will have our desserts. Although maybe we should put the desserts in the caterer's room ... ?
- Buy / make a sign book that is also a guest book (see Mom’s brain)
-Decide what to put the desserts on (plastic trays, disposable trays) Brittany has supplied me with a great idea for the trays to put the desserts on. :D
- Decide where desserts should go (originally, on the cake table, but cake table is too small and we have two alcoves, so why not put some there? Probably because the dance floor is in the way)
- Decide if we want to put anything up behind the cake table (fabric pom-pom lanterns)
-Do we want mini lights in the ceiling? (I’m totally stealing this from you, Brittany) No lights, there are floor-length windows that will let in enough light.
-Not doing a seating chart, but where should our families sit in the room? With the exception of H. and I, everyone is fending for themselves. Call it Musical Wedding Chairs. Okay, but srsly, here's an updated diagram of the space.
-Song list for the ceremony Worked this out with the ceremony musician.
- Song list for the reception
-I need to buy a garter. I have no idea where to do this. Brittany let me in on the Hobby Lobby secret.
- Make fluffy wedding shoes (time permitting)
-What is the bridal party’s day-of transportation? Limousines, baby.
- Pay the photographer
- Make ceremony programs ---> I'm waiting on the church musician to tell me if she can play a specific song. Once I have that, I am prepared to print the programs tomorrow.
-Contact everyone for the rehearsal dinner I've sent messages to everyone via FB, and I just need to call Uncle Andy + Uncle Thomas to make sure they have the information correct.
- Figure out what the wedding day schedule will look like (before the ceremony)
- Decide on what jewelry to wear with the dress
- Decide what jewelry the bridesmaids should wear, depending on what we/they have.
- Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
-Give H. a haircut so he looks snazzy. Done.
-Figure out who’s giving toasts at the reception (MOH, BM, parents of B + G) Toasts are Susan, Harry, Henry, and John
- Designate someone to check in to the hotel for H. and I
- Consider getting mani / pedi for such a fab occasion
- Pay ceremony site staff, musicians, priest, etc.
-Figure out when we can start using the church’s rooms We can start using the church rooms at 11am.
Alrighty peeps. We're entering the final three days of the countdown. Noses to the grindstone, people!

Best Post EVER!!!
Hello, HerBlueBonnets faithful. This is H with a guest post. I hope you came prepared for quality, and a bit less quantity. This post will also be somewhat picture heavy. I hope you have eyes that work properly.
Today I am going to teach you how to properly dispose of "Toasted Head Chardonnay" wine. This particular bottle of wine has a picture of a bear breathing fire on the front. It sounds a little like something you'd expect to see in an Old Spice commercial. This makes sense, because the wine tastes like something you'd find in an Old Spice product.
After taking a sip of this wine, it is a common response to be repulsed and want to pour it down the sink. Your first impulse is correct. The wine is terrible. Your second impulse is incorrect. Unless you stole that wine, you paid for it. And if you paid for it, you are going to feel sad as you pour it away, and get nothing out of it.
To properly dispose of this wine, you will need some house plants that you no longer want because you think that they are not actually meant to grow indoors. If you don't have any of these, you're hosed. Hoser. Simply pour out the wine (all of it) on to the plants. This not only gets rid of the terrible wine, but kills the plants in a humane way. Trust me, plants would much rather die from alcohol poisoning than get dug up and thrown away.
Thats it. You're done. I hope you learned something.

Pretty Pictures.
Style Me Pretty is a wonderful wedding website that has this neat little tool you can use to create inspiration boards. It's pretty much a small collection of photos that you like and want to spend hours finding on their website. H. is watching the Rangers right now, and I had some time to kill before starting dinner, so I made one that I think loosely resembles our wedding.

Lengthy List.
Last night, I kept having a dream in which the caterer thought the wedding was on Sunday instead of Saturday, and I couldn't get a hold of her to tell her otherwise. Very frustrating, but it prompted me to think of all the things I still need to do. This is more for me than for you guys, but you can look over the list and let me know how busy you think I'll be by the time the wedding rolls around.

I think that's it. Besides everyone picking up their tuxes and making sure they fit. Please let them fit. And let them look good. Please please please.
Now I should probably go make a list of things to bring with me. I will not forget to bring my hairdryer this time.

Kittens Fur Real.
While most of you are this video's target audience and will get a quick cute high off of this video, someone really needs to show this to Dad, because something tells me he'll like it as well. I acknowledge the simplicity of this concept, yet couldn't help but giggle and look over to H. and say, "Look! They're in the bowls!" He was at a loss for how best to tell me I'm crazy.
I would like to say I called all the vendor people and gave them the correct number of people that will be at the wedding, but I completely forgot. Yesterday we got a note stuck in our door from the apartment office stating that a "Bank Inspection" was to occur today at 11am. After googling what exactly that was, I cleaned up the place a bit and now it looks very, very nice. There's a lot of space when things aren't randomly on the ground. Anywho, that'll be on my list of things to do tomorrow as I pretend to not count every single day left until the wedding day.
Speaking of, 11 DAYS PEOPLE. 11 DAYS. I'm both excited and nervous, but only nervous for all of the non-ceremony stuff. I'm just hoping that the reception goes well. Because, well ... you know. So yup, super excited! And, the caterer said whatever people don't eat we can take home. How awesome is that?
I had a small scare this morning, after I finally plugged my phone into the charger (it died overnight). The alterations lady at David's Bridal left me a message saying she needed to talk to me about the dress I wanted to have altered and how I needed to call her back right away, straight away. The first thing I thought was Holy crap, they accidentally dipped it in blue paint and now it's unwearable what can I do at least they'll let me pick something else out but then that needs to be altered and will it be ready in time for the wedding?! ... Sometimes, I over-think things. She was calling to ask if I'll be paying for the last set of alterations when the dress gets picked up. Uh, well, since you said that's what would happen when I tried it on last, I'm imagining that's still the plan. I guess she just didn't note it on the receipt or something. Sooooo glad there wasn't anything wrong with the dress.
One thing I definitely still need to do is get in touch with the people who are bringing desserts to the reception and nail down what exactly they're bringing as well as what they're bringing it on. I will probably just buy some white or spring colored Corelle-type platters super cheap from somewhere when I get back into town. That way everything looks cohesive, and it's less of a hassle for the people bringing stuff, I hope. I also need to figure out when people can bring things into the hotel reception area, and if we can use their fridge if the dessert needs to be cold. Maybe we'll just bring a cooler.
How darling are these cutie-pies? And, they're gluten-free!
One last parting image for all of you wedding fiends. Okay, maybe that's just me, but here is a good example of what I hope my shoes will look like for the wedding, minus the pink.
And yes, I still need to do this. I'm worried how well the fluff will travel, but I'm also doubting how much time I'll have to make these back in the homeland. If I have time here, I'll make them here. I might not make these at all, which would be sad, but not too awful in the scheme of things. The only drawback is I know for a fact that the photographer lady will definitely take a picture of our shoes.

Quiche Capiche.
Before I get to the happy-go-lucky stuff, I need to get something off my chest. From those brilliant minds of yours, pull out the memory of me entering in this DIY contest over on a wedding website. Turns out they only showed entries made by professional photographers, the website's vendors, or their blog's internet friends. I'm mostly pissed off about the fact that they made it sound like they would include their readers in the contest. My mistake. I guess I have to have an Etsy shop for veil headpieces or something to even be considered. Whatever. At least I'm not so stupid as to enter a wedding favor that consists of making a CD of music you would have to buy on iTunes and distributing it as a thank you. Copyright infringement much?
Aaaaaaaaaaaanyways. I initially wanted to post about my super secret bridesmaids gift project, but that's all I'm going to tell you. HA! They're a secret, people! I will tell you that I had a little bit of trouble with the first one, but I got the hang of it, and then the others weren't that bad. I'm really selling these gifts, aren't I? Well, I'll give you the Chuck Guarantee that they're super cool.
It's hard not to lose hope over these gladiolas that won't bud. I read online that they'll start budding around 90 days, and it's only been around 60 days, but when I told the florist that I was trying to grow them out here she laughed at me, then apologized and explained that they probably won't get enough sun. I am going to politely disagree, but then again, she does work with flowers for a living. At the very least, the air in the apartment is getting filtered.
Troubles with the hotel representative abound! Here's a shorthand of what we talked about.
"So I'm buying (x) dollars of wine from the hotel for the day-of."
"Oh, okay. I'll take that out of the (y) amount that you are spending to rent the room."
"That sounds great!"
I thought she meant (y) - (x) = an amount smaller than (y). When I was talking to H. about this interaction, he pointed out she probably meant that the wine will be included in the price to rent the room, leaving me with just (y). I tried calling her today, but didn't get an answer back (shocking, I know). I'll call her again next week and figure out the price of the room, plus what exactly $300 worth of a "sound system" entails. I would like for it to include more than two speakers, plus a hookup so we can play music off of an iPod or iPhone or something. But you can't always get what you want.
Food time! I made a kickass quiche for dinner yesterday. I really wanted to dig into it for lunch today, but instead had a tuna salad sandwich. The best part about this quiche is it doesn't have a crust. It's crustless! I found the recipe on this website, which seems to have nothing to do with the rest of that blog but whatevs. I accept your fantastic quiche despite your boring blog! But seriously, the best part is probably the cheese at the bottom. I thought you had to put a decent amount on so that it would form the "crust", but you really don't. Unless you want to eat heaven. The quiche I made included colby jack cheese, mushrooms, fully-cooked smoked sausage, chopped spinach (previously frozen), and green onions. Lemme tell ya - definitely substitute a regular onion for green onions. Those things really made it special. I followed the egg filling part to the letter, but I didn't understand why you had to melt the butter if you were just going to add cold milk to the bowl next. I was worried that the little lumps of butter that didn't mix would ruin the quiche, but my fears were unfounded. It is the best quiche ah ever dun made. It's also the first quiche ah ever dun made. I might upload a photo of it tomorrow before my belly claims it.
Currently, the Rangers are beating the Yankees 5 to 2. Also, we broke the Yankees record for the number of double plays they grounded into - the record is now six. Six! Six times the Yankees hit into a double play tonight! Very exciting baseball, if you ask me.
Don't tell Dad I said this, but Russell Brand is actually funny. If you're unsure about who I'm referring to, Russell Brand is this dude.
Completely weird and weird and British but also kooky. He kind of gives me the heeby-jeebies just looking at him. He is also Katy Perry's husband (yeah, wow). Today, he was on the Rachael Ray show, and as I sat there in my workout clothes wondering why the heck he was invited to her seemingly A-class show, something suddenly happened. I laughed! I can't find a video of him on the show, but trust me, he was honestly funny. I promise you I laughed more than once out loud, not just a chuckle either. I'm willing to give him a second chance.
That's all for tonight. Time to make tilapia!

Starts and Stops.
Being back in the homeland was amazing - seeing everyone after being thousands of miles away was really, really good for the soul. It didn't hurt that it was wildflower season, either.
I only realized today that the mineral powder I got from that Mary Kay lady was the wrong shade: Beige 0.5 instead of Ivory 0.5 (good to know I haven't completely tanned out). I was going to try it on again today, but stopped when I saw that it looked like milk chocolate. I'll have to get it switched out when I come back for the wedding. One thing I did notice about being back was that my skin had a lot more breakouts. Possibly due to the humidity, possibly due to all of the fat and sugar that I ate (fast food + ice cream = yum, but does not amount to clear skin). I'm wondering how I'll get my skin to be clear for the day-of.
The flight back almost didn't happen, by the way. H.'s dad dropped us off at the terminal that the plane was scheduled to leave from, but after we made our way through security, I noticed that the screen at the terminal didn't have the correct city on it. We checked the wall of tv screens, found our destination, and realized that it was on the other side of the airport. H. and I walked through four of those moving platform walkways, then barreled through what seemed like oncoming traffic as we made our way from gate 38D to 36C. It took us a solid fifteen minutes (upwards of twenty) of power walking through and around everyone in our way to get to the gate, and as soon as we got there they started the boarding process. I mentioned to H. that it's good I've been working out these past couple of weeks, because while I'm sure I would have made it, I definitely would have pulled something in the process. We're talking power walking, people. I would also like to point out that I was the one dragging the suitcase. /flex
Just as the last passengers boarded the plane, one of the pilots starts over the intercom, "Well, folks, looks like we're all ready to get this show on the road. The only thing is we have to manually start the engine, and as soon as the pilot does that, we'll need to log it in our logs, and then we'll be on our way." I'm not entirely sure when the engine actually started, but I do know that the air on the plane went out three times before we started moving. I tried not to think about all the ways I could die as the pilot was turning the crank on the engine to make it go.
The flight wasn't that bad. Halfway through there was some turbulence that forced the pilot to fly the plane 10k miles above where he wanted to be, but it's a good thing he told us he was having trouble getting through the bumpy ride - that really helped my nerves. Actually, once I got into that book-reading zone, I didn't feel anxious or nervous at all, but that usually only lasted a couple minutes at a time. Anyways, we landed safely, we're both alive, and we're back to dirt and mountains.
A couple other projects I didn't even start on while deep in the heart: centerpieces, any decorations whatsoever, and dessert baking. It's almost like I had a million appointments or something. At least now I've met all the vendors for the wedding. Well, except the one that was in the hospital and canceled the hotel event and promised to personally call me back. I'll call her today and tomorrow, and I'll probably end up talking to whoever else took on her job while she's been sick. I'm not really expecting an answer, though. Is it bad that I'm accepting bad service?
Things for me to do whilst I'm over here:
- decide between flower clips and petal shoes, then actually make some
- possibly attempt some half-yield dessert recipes (there's no way we could eat all of them)
- work out to maintain body shape that currently fits into the dress
- finish sketching mountains and start painting!
- get back on a regular sleep schedule (did I mention we're two hours behind?)
- pick out wedding music (swing + romantic shtuffs)
- figure out how much to pay the priest
That list reminded me of two things. One, I'm convinced that if I hadn't told H. that I boiled the noodles in chicken stock he wouldn't have noticed it at all in the tuna casserole. He claims that it now tastes chicken-y, and asked me not to mess with his favorite recipe. Which we all know is a lie, because his favorite recipe Yorkshire pudding. Second, I know what else I'd like to paint in addition to the mountains and the silhouettes. There's this gorgeous desert tree outside our apartment that is just breathtaking, which is a difficult feat to achieve for a tree. I should take a picture of it just in case it decides to shed its tiny yellow flowers.
The more I look at wholesale flowers, the more I think it would be easy for us to do. How easy it would be to actually set up on the day-of, I'm not sure, but making bouquets is super easy. We need to decide what we're doing for centerpieces and quick, because wholesale flower websites have a 2-week shipping buffer time thing, so we're approaching our last day to order. There's also a lot of talk about working with Costco or Sam's Club instead of ordering online. I think we'd need to talk with someone in person, but that still sounds easy.
We'll end with a picture. I've got flowers on the brain, and this photo really makes me smile. I'd probably switch out "The Newes" for "Mr. & Mrs.", or something clever. Nevertheless, flowers make me happy.

Long Weekend.
Immediately after posting that last entry, I learned just how bad the food poisoning was for H. He was feverish, dehydrated, had stomach cramps that made it impossible for him to sit up, and the fact that he kept saying, "I have never felt this bad in my life" made me think we might need to go to the emergency room. We ended up not going, but only because H. figured the only thing they could do for him was hydrate him and sit him in a comfy chair. I screamed over to Walmart to pick up Gatorade that H. had asked for, and in a moment of wisdom also bought some Tylenol PM. I flew back to the apartment, gave H. the hydration and pills that he needed, then nervously waited to see if the sleep agent would kick in. When it finally did, I felt both relieved and extremely tired. We hadn't had dinner that night, but I was too tired to care. It was midnight and I needed sleep.
The next day H. took medicine regularly, and I ran out to Walmart again to grab some Sprite to settle his stomach (wish I had thought of that the night before). It's a good thing the Rangers were playing, that was a nice distraction. We also watched Sparticus, the three-hour movie that was actually pretty good (I usually don't like older movies). H. wasn't too jazzed about eating dinner, so I offered to pick up Panda to make him eat a decent meal. I'm glad he's slowly recovering his appetite. I wouldn't want him flying if he wasn't feeling well (although he would probably still do it). He looks a lot better today than yesterday, so I feel he'll be back to normal tomorrow.
I suggested to H. that we sue the gelato place, because that is literally the only thing different that we ate. He wasn't enthused about the idea when I suggested it, but maybe that's because it was six in the morning and he wanted to go back to sleep.
So guess what? I'm flying in TWO DAYS! Super duper excited! I'm trying to make a list of everything that I need to pack, and hopefully I remember to bring everything. The intertubes says that the weather is going to be in the upper 80's for most of my stay, which is pretty much like around here. It also says that it will rain while we're gone, which I kind of want to experience since it'll mean cooler temperatures. But I suppose given the choice of seeing everyone I love versus cooler temperatures, the people win out.
H. and I know what we want for Christmas: one of those Texas Rangers rings with all the diamonds. They look so cool! They're giving out replicas to the fans of today's game, and I wish wish wish we could go.
Well, I'm avoiding the very daunting task of cleaning the apartment before we leave. It got kind of messy when H. got sick (that "drop everything and take care of someone" mentality really sets in), and I know it'll drive him crazy once he's all better if things aren't a little tidy around here.
Before I go, I wanted to mention this post on one of the wedding websites. The pictures from this wedding make me want to use yellow for everything, now. Maybe I'll just incorporate it into the flowers.

Sunday, April 3
I sat down to write about the lovely day H. and I shared, but suddenly H. came down with something like the flu, and I wanted to help him get to bed early to sleep it off. Right now he's snoozing and most likely dreaming about baseball. He said that he doesn't feel sick, it's just that he must've eaten something to cause his stomach unrest. Hopefully tomorrow morning he will be feeling much better. I've learned that his immune system is something to be jealous of.
This afternoon, we purchased wedding rings. I love the feeling I get when I look at him and know that he's in this for the long haul. It turns my heart to mush, and I can't stop smiling, then he asks what I'm so happy about in that sarcastic voice of his. I just keep smiling at him until his face breaks into a smile. But enough of the mushy stuff.
We purchased our rings, then H. treated me to gelato. I naively agreed to two scoops of this ice creamy stuff before seeing how big the lady was making the scoops. They were this big! I picked Creme Brulee and White Chocolate Raspberry for my flavors. H., having seen the amount of gelato being scooped into the teeny tiny serving cup, decided on one flavor: Strawberry Cheesecake. We each tried each others' flavors with our teeny tiny blue and pink spoons, but mutually decided that our own was the best. Not surprisingly, I couldn't finish all of mine, so we took it back and placed it in our freezer. You would think if anyone got sick it would've been me, right? Right.
The rest of the day was spent playing baseball, watching basketball, or watching baseball. I did pop over to Michael's for a minute. They had sent me a 25% off everything (including sale items, which they never do) coupon, so I was very eager to use it. I should have suspected it would be worthless - nothing I wanted was on sale to begin with, so it wasn't a good deal at all if I bought it today. I'll have to wait until next week when mostly everything is half-off.
As I was drifting off to sleep last night, I remembered the question H. had asked me during the day. "Anna, what are you going to paint on your other canvas?" The idea crept into my subconsciousness, which realized it would be totally rad, so it sent a text conveying the importance of this thought to my consciousness, which promptly took all the credit when the light bulb turned on above my head. So here it is, my sleepy idea.
I would like to paint H.'s and my silhouettes. If you can imagine it: I will trace our silhouettes onto the canvas, looking in towards one another. Outside of the tracings, the canvas will be a light, bright grey (think "spring" grey). Inside the tracings, I want to paint somewhere nostalgic for each of us. I suggested that I paint H.'s backyard, but I could very well do any place in his house, it's all so inviting. For me, I either want to paint my front yard with the two how-did-they-grow-so-fast trees and our gorgeous balcony window, or I would like to paint the sea of wheat fields that I remember from when my family returned to Canada about a year after we moved to the States. I don't remember a whole lot from that trip, but I do remember driving in a car towards our old house, looking out the window in the early evening sun, and seeing waves of gold for miles. Or I could paint the Rockies, as we could easily see them while we were living in our old house, serenely light blue and off in the distance. Obviously I haven't quite decided yet, but I'm in no huge rush - I still have to finish the mountains I see here.
So there it is, my dreamy idea. H. likes it, and I think it would be great if we took some pictures while we were back in town for me to work with. I really want to get all the details right. I hope I can do our nostalgic places justice.
Well, it's getting fairly late here. I keep thinking to myself, in four days I'll be on a plane! It is both exciting and a little overwhelming, knowing that I have so much to get done, yet so much to catch up on. Goodnight and sweet dreams!

Friday, April 1
Well Crap.
After leaving my umpteenth message for the lady at the hotel who hasn't called me back all week, I decided to speak to someone at the front desk about it. He told me that "she's been a little sick lately ... actually she's in the hospital." So now I feel pretty bad about getting angry with her for not returning my calls. Well, I feel 80% bad, but 20% not bad because one of the times I called, I got her assistant or somebody in her department. This new lady only told me that she was out of the office for the day. If she's been in the hospital for the entire week, maybe you should tell that to the person who's been leaving messages every single day. You don't have to tell me what she's in the hospital for - the fact that she's there means that she will be unavailable for an indeterminate amount of time, and then I'll stop yelling at her in my messages. As a customer, I will understand. Or you could just tell me she's not there right now can you leave a message and I'll continue my quest as the person who never got a phone call returned.
All in all, I hope she gets better, because nobody likes being in the hospital.
