We forgot one thing - the Xbox we have has a problem reading any disc that you put into it. H. fiddled around with the Xbox, and actually got it to work Sunday night. Monday I played during the day, figuring out the controls and whatnot, and H. played in the evening after work, perfecting his methods for getting batters out and scoring when his team was batting. We went to sleep thinking of how the night of April first would go, whether we would take a nap during the day and then stock up on Dr. Pepper or coffee or whathaveyou.
I turn on the console this morning, and it won't read the disc. Nothing that I do can fix it, and I'm not even sure H. can fix it when he gets back tonight. So now we're back to square one. The kicker is that when we first got here, H. had asked me to send the console off to the factory so that they could fix it and the warranty would stay in tact (if we really wanted to fix it, we would have to void the warranty on it). I didn't get around to calling them until early last week. At the time, we hadn't used it in three months, and I didn't forsee us using it at any point in the near future (we were going to delete our monthly memberships to save money, and hadn't even turned it on in all the time that we were here). And it's not like I didn't have a wedding to plan or a thousand things to do besides the wedding. So I put it off, like any other person would do. At least, that's what I imagine any other person would do in that situation. If you don't drink coffee, but have a broken coffee maker, why bother getting it fixed? Oh, because three months down the line you'll find the best coffee in the world and will want to have it everyday. Because that's predictable.
Anyways, now we're stuck. And without voiding the warranty, there's not a whole lot we can do. Turnaround time on getting the console fixed is 2-3 weeks, and we need it working by April first.
Enough depressing updates. Wait, one quick one: I have to call the hotel representative and ask why she gave me a price and then changed it a month later. From an email she sent me: "The $500 facility fee is waived if you are spending $30 or more in food and beverage through the hotel." I told her we would be spending about $300 in wine and beer, and she said that would be fine, which I took to mean that was the final price before gratuity. Apparently what she meant was you have to spend at least $500, no matter what. So whatever. Thanks for being absolutely a pain in my ass to deal with. This had better be the reception of my dreams or we're going to have something to talk about the next day. And I know, I know, she seems really nice in person, and maybe she's just senile or forgetful or something, but if you are trying to build a business relationship you might want to not be a liar. Just saying.
/rant. Let's see, what's happy and uppity in the world of Anna today.
Here's a neat little look into what the weather was like last night and this morning. Last night we had clouds rolling into the valley area, and when the sun set it was a nice peachy color. It rained a little overnight, and now all that's left of the clouds are a few little marshmallow clumps sitting on top of the mountains. It's going to be a sunny, clear day today with a high of 68 degrees, thanks to the rain.
Something fun I get to do today: buy paints and start sketching the mountains. I'll probably go somewhere that allows me to view them without apartment complexes in the way. The nearby park will do the job, or maybe I'll drive up a little into the base of the mountains and have a nice, clear view.
As a parting gift, here's something that I can't get out of my head (probably because of how it tricks the eye into thinking it's a lot of work to make). Also, it's very, very pretty.
Spring Floral How-To |
I'm telling you - if I had infinite moneys, I'd buy flowers every day. I'd also probably go on a vacation somewhere, but the flowers are definitely first on my to-do list. I cannot wait until my glads start budding!
About the hotel, it is possible that I misunderstood her. It would probably be best to ask her again, nicely, in case I'm the one that is wrong.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the X-box. Maybe it will start working again magically right when you need it? One can hope ... :)
Hope tomorrow is better for you, Love, M
Is it possible to rent an XBox? Or is there a place you can take it in person for them to fix it without voiding the warranty? Worst case scenario, Thomas and I have been wanting a 360. You buy a new one and we'll buy it from you when yours is working again d:
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the hotel is being annoying. You're still officially having the reception at the Hilton, right? I got a call from Millie the cake girl, asking for confirmation on that.
Speaking of getting details for her, did you say you wanted the e-scroll on the top and bottom layers, and the other lacy thing for the middle? Strawberry preserves [since H's family doesn't like raspberry] and coconut with flakes. I'm supposed to let you know the final decision by the end of the week so she can get an actual contract written up.
