We will have enough rooms for H to have an office, me to have an artsy-fartsy crafts room, and one bedroom for guests to stay when they come visit us. Not that we're expecting everyone to visit, but now we have that room available.
The basement is squarely unfinished. When we were initially looking, we weren't interested in an unfinished house. Why are we paying all this money to have one room unusable? But this unfinished basement gives us the opportunity to cut it up anyway we want to. Ultimate toys room for our hypothetical children? Incredible movie theater-like room for date night in? Exercise room for January of every following year? For now it's going to be a catch-all for the Storage boxes multiplying in the garage of the old house. But mark my words, something will be done with that space.
The fireplace is an electric gas contraption that does not take wood. By that I mean there's a piece of glass separating the living room and the gas logs. This was one thing I did not particularly like, but I suppose I can find a way to live with it. Maybe it will be safer for the hypothetical childrens?
The deck and backyard are the icing on the proverbially house cake. There are five or six beautiful old trees lining the back of the yard, and the shade they'll provide in the summer will be magical. Thankfully there is already a fence put in , so there aren't any major updates to make outside.
I still can't believe that this house is ours. It's all too perfect. All I can think about is filling it with all of our furniture and just living in it. I can't wait to finally be home.
